At this special occasion Laurna Røde (Helena Persson and David Sabel) works with the sound of the water as a drone, using e-bows and guitars. The duo carves out a soundscape from silence and chaos, an intense and at the same time peaceful sound experience where frequencies and harmonies are in focus.

Ester Henning was institutionalized for more than 60 years, and never really accepted as an artist. After her death her embroidery works was donated to the Art Museum of Skövde. At the re-opening of the museum, June 29, s sound art piece by Helena Persson and a video installation by Petra Johansson and Neta Norrmo will be added to her exhibited works.

May 9 and 11, 2013, sound installation and live performance with David Sabel at Verona Risuona festival, Verona, Italy.

This Saturday, the streets of Verona City were filled with performances, installations and artists. This is a shot from Porta Borsari where you could hear the sounds from steel stringed acoustic guitars played with e-bows along with a soundscape recorded in Verona. Luckily we also had a nice live soundscape from the people, walls and surroundings of the space we played in.

Libration, is the name of an upcoming collaboration between Frauke and Helena Persson at Textival, March 23.

Frauke, butoh dancer and choreographer, and sound artist Helena Persson, are forming an installation and live performance, where the dancer is syncronized with the room and the materials of the installation. The choreography and sounds are created in close relation to one another. The performance is to be simultaneously followed and written about by the writer Kristofer Folkhammar.

“Vi rör oss hela tiden tillbaka mot dygnets mörka timmar, men ser både dag och natt i horisontens rand. I de dovaste tillstånd, ryms en förtätad aktivitet. Den minsta svängning tas emot med den största intensitet. I ett tillstånd som vi inte vill lämna, som nattens mörker hjälper att förstärka, finns det som är vaket.”

The Sounding Room is an experimental exhibition made by students from the Composition Program at The Academy of Music and Theatre in Göteborg. The installation Hovering Abode, made by Helena Persson and Eduardo Conceição (Berlin) is one of the pieces that will be presented at this exhibition.

Hovering Abode is an interdisciplinary experiment when it comes to both inspiration and expression. After seeing a drawing painted by the portuguese artist and architect Eduardo Conceição, Helena started developing her thoughts about the mobile life and its pros and cons, into a sounding scenario. The picture became the starting point of a correspondance built on pictures, photos, texts and words between the two of them. From this material a sketch evolved that later became an installation embodied in sound and architecture. Hovering Abode is a sounding sculpture, containing 6 speakers, surrounded by 4 speakers in a room. The sounds in the installation are field recordings.

It has been a busy week in Berlin starting up the construction of the future sounding sculpture created by Helena Persson and Eduardo Conceição. The Hovering Abode, as it is called, is the first joint collaboration between the two when it comes to art. The swedish-portuguese duo met in Stockholm while working on a theatre play for The Fringe Festival, where Eduardo made the scenography and Helena was doing sound and light. You will be able to experience the Hovering Abode at the exhibition called “The Sounding Room”, Jan 18-27, Röda Sten, Göteborg, Sweden.
